The Beverage Testing Institute (BevTest) has released its much-anticipated Top 10 Rums of 2024, showcasing the versatility and innovation of modern rum. This year’s lineup features producers ranging from heritage brands to trailblazing craft distillers.
In a recent article on Forbes.com, Jerald O’Kennard, President of the Chicago-based Beverage Testing Institute, shared insights into the evolving rum landscape. “The rum category is often seen as the wild west of spirits,” he said. Unlike other spirits categories that follow strict regulations—like Cognac’s XO or Bourbon’s Straight designation—rum relies on national and regional traditions without universal quality standards.
