Once blended, the rum rests in hand-selected high rye bourbon barrels in San Diego. The barrels contribute the vanilla, caramel, and stone-fruit sweetness that gives this expression its whiskey-drinker crossover appeal.
Finishing time is monitored barrel by barrel — we pull each cask when the profile is right, not on a fixed schedule.

Our master distiller Geoff Longenecker started sourcing aged rum from three Caribbean traditions — Jamaica for the funk, Barbados for the elegance, Dominican Republic for the smoothness.
Each was already aged 8 to 10 years in a rotating mix of new oak, ex-whiskey, and port casks. Any one of them, on its own, would have been a fine rum. But we were after something bigger.
Once the ratio was right, we finished the blend in hand-selected high rye bourbon barrels in San Diego. The result is a rum with the vanilla-caramel-oak backbone of a great bourbon, and the tropical stone-fruit sweetness that only aged Caribbean rum delivers. Additive free.
Barrel Finished is a sipper — but it stands up beautifully in whiskey-forward classics. Anywhere you'd normally use a good bourbon, try this instead.

Lovely aromatic nose of tropic spice, oak char, caramel and new tobacco leaf. The first sip greets the tongue with a sunny warming friendliness. Medium body with flavors that hit all areas of the mouth with a rum cake and raisin toast evocation. Extra-long finish, ending with just a touch of wood. Really the standout rum in the Kokomo portfolio. The kind of rum you would want on a desert isle, if you happened to end up there.
Club Kokomo rum is a serious, quality product far better than many of the so-called mainstream brands. Sipping that barrel-finished rum has my toes tapping as I hum Bermuda, Bahama...
The Barrel Finished rum is my least favorite of the three — not because it's too sweet, but because I find it indistinct and a bit muddied in flavors for an eight-year-aged rum.

What an absolutely amazing rum! My favorite go to is the Sazerac, tried it with the Barrel Finished and honestly was one of the best I have made. It gives a new depth and character versus bourbon. Like blending the best of both worlds. Highly recommend.
