Club Kokomo Spirits was launched this year by Brian Love and his father, Mike Love, one of the founders of the Beach Boys. Their initial release of three rums has turned heads in the awards circuit. Perhaps none more than their Artisanal White Rum, which took home a Double Gold Medal and was named a Best in Class White Rum Finalist at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). A demerara cane sugar rum made in San Diego, it's perfect for cocktails or sipping neat.

A clean but interesting rum with some fruit and pleasant funk notes. I'm not a huge white rum sipper in general but I enjoy in a mojito. Whether neat or in a drink it's a perfect vessel for cruising to your own personal Kokomo.
Clean rum distillate nose with light vanilla and marshmallow. Entry is clean, refreshing and has a slightly creamy mouthfeel. As it opens up, more sweetness kicks in with notes of pastry sugar, a touch of vanilla and a minerality that adds a sense of terroir. This is a solid, slightly higher proof rum perfect for your next Daiquiri, Missionary's Downfall or Piña Colada.
Artisanal White is the best of the line, a traditional Jamaican pot still-style rum with tropical melon and mango notes but a drier finish.
Clear color. Aromas and flavors of caramel sauce, fried plantain, lemon curd and steamed tamales, and green apple and guava with a round, vibrant, dry medium body and a warming, engaging, medium-length finish that presents notes of over ripe and caramelized plantain, banana split, lemongrass, and grilled white pineapple. A Jamaican style white Rum that will be as delicious in a Daiquiri as it would be in a Rum and coke.

Lovely aromatic nose of tropic spice, oak char, caramel and new tobacco leaf. The first sip greets the tongue with a sunny warming friendliness. Medium body with flavors that hit all areas of the mouth with a rum cake and raisin toast evocation. Extra-long finish, ending with just a touch of wood. Really the standout rum in the Kokomo portfolio. The kind of rum you would want on a desert isle, if you happened to end up there.
Club Kokomo rum is a serious, quality product far better than many of the so-called mainstream brands. Sipping that barrel-finished rum has my toes tapping as I hum Bermuda, Bahama...
The Barrel Finished rum is my least favorite of the three — not because it's too sweet, but because I find it indistinct and a bit muddied in flavors for an eight-year-aged rum.

Light vanilla bean perfume with a dark and introspective character. On the tongue, there is very little sweetness, only a round and somewhat woody tone of vanilla. The mouthfeel is light, with a somewhat tannic quality. The finish is medium-long and ends on a slightly bitter note on the back of the palate.
Tahitian Vanilla Rum was better than I expected — not being a fan of flavored rums. It's dry, not sweet, and the vanilla is subtle.
Absolutely impressed! It's a white rum with real depth and character. The flavor actually shines through in cocktails. it is an easy-drinking white rum! Crisp, bright, and adds the perfect touch to any mixed drink.

What an absolutely amazing rum! My favorite go to is the Sazerac, tried it with the Barrel Finished and honestly was one of the best I have made. It gives a new depth and character versus bourbon. Like blending the best of both worlds. Highly recommend.
